Victims of Craigslist (or other online classfied) Scam Using Fraudulent ViaSat Checks

ViaSat Inc. is one of many U.S. corporations that are the victim of a Craigslist scam, with the same scam being perpetrated through other online classified advertising sites as well. The perpetrators send a check through UPS, FedX, or other private carrier with the maker/issuer as "ViaSat", or other letter combination that resembles our company name, with Union Bank of California as the bank. The check will have an account no. that ends with 625. The amount of the check is usually four to five times greater than the price of the item in the classified ad.

Please do not contact ViaSat

These are fake checks and ViaSat Inc. is not involved in these transactions. Instead please send the check, along with any other materials received, to your local law enforcement fraud unit so they can try to arrest the individuals working this scam.
